Presidential welcome, continued

Incorporated in 1986, NCSPP has done much to advance psychology training and to provide a clear voice that advocates for competency-based graduate practitioner training. NCSPP has championed a competency-based model of training that is dynamic and continually evolving; it successfully responds to societal needs and shifts in educational priorities. NCSPP strives to continue its leadership role in how the field prepares psychologists for future roles as healers and change agents for diverse communities. Our current member programs and schools train over fifty percent of the clinical psychologists in the United States.

Over the past several years, NCSPP initiated and completed a comprehensive review and revision of its seven Core Competencies. This resulted in the establishment of training outcomes at successive levels of professional training--“Developmental Achievement Levels”. We are pleased that these DALs now allow NCSPP members to operationalize, assess, implement and evaluate its model of competency based training. Social Responsibility and Diversity have been fundamental to these core competencies and are reflected in the education and training provided by our member organizations. We examine these competencies in the context of a contemporary multicultural and global society, and our need to address diversity along many dimensions.
