The Position:

Behavioral Medicine Program Director
The College of Health Sciences at Midwestern University invites applications

core faculty position in a practitioner-scholar program.
Overall this position is responsible for coordinating the Clinical Psychology

The School of Professional Psychology (SOPP) at Spalding University is seeking
three full-time, tenure-track professors to begin in Fall of 2009. Spalding
University was founded in 1814 to provide quality education with an emphasis
on the promotion of peace and justice. The SOPP, fully accredited by the American
Psychological Association since 1989, offers a Psy.D. in clinical psychology.
Our collaborative training program is built around a scholar-practitioner model.
We offer generalist training in clinical psychology with four possible emphasis
areas for students to obtain specialized training.
Successful candidates will evidence three areas of excellence in equal balance.
First, they will be strong teachers with excellent student course evaluations,
an understanding of best practices in teaching, and who enjoy student mentoring.
Second, they will be thoughtful scholars who are actively presenting and/or
publishing in their chosen research interest areas. Third, they will possess
a cooperative spirit and work well with others on university and department
service committees. The positions will be at the assistant/associate professor
rank, depending on previous experience. Preference will be given to licensed
or license-eligible psychologists who have completed a doctorate degree and
internship from an APA accredited program.
Clinical Psychology Faculty Positions: The first two positions are for professors/psychologists
who demonstrate teaching excellence in topics including health psychology,
behavioral medicine, psychological assessment, evidence-based treatment, neuropsychology,
and/or the biological basis of behavior. Ideally, one of the positions will
serve as the Health Psychology Emphasis Area Director. Teaching duties include
both undergraduate and graduate level, with a strong emphasis on mentoring
students in scholarly and clinical work.
Psychology Faculty Position: The third position is for an experimental psychologist
or a clinical/counseling psychologist with strong quantitative skills to teach
research and related courses. The successful candidate will have skills in
research design and methodology, statistics, psychometrics, biological bases
of behavior, and/or social bases of behavior. Administrative opportunities
will be available as we are searching for an individual who can serve as Director
of our Undergraduate program; however, serving in this role is not a requirement.
Our goal for these three searches is to find excellent faculty members who
will be valuable contributors to our university. This salary is competitive
for the levels indicated. The positions offer a great deal of scheduling flexibility
(other than class times) and the persons filling these positions are encouraged
