Mid-Winter Conference
“ NCSPP 2025: Leap into the Future”
January 18-22, 2011
San Juan, Puerto Rico

Puerto Rican Crested Toad: Critically Endangered

How will we prepare our students for the professional practice in 2025? As psychologists move beyond traditional roles of independent practice and hospital/clinic-based practice focused on therapy and assessment, how are we preparing our graduates? How do our traditional competencies provide a base for non-traditional practice, and what competencies do we not cover?

This year’s conference will focus on examining these questions and providing answer to what professional psychology education and training will need to look like in the year 2025. Will we be able to nimbly adjust to these changes, or will be become an endangered species. The conference will bring together speakers who will describe what appear to be the global trends that may impact our professional as well as the trends in practice and education. We invite programs and individuals to submit poster presentations of projects and programs that illustrate innovations in education and training as well as methods they have in teaching what are sometimes called the emerging competencies—supervision, education, consultation, and management—that appear to provide a bases for non-traditional practice.

The conference hotel (Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza, http://www.condadoplaza.com/) is situated between the ocean and a lagoon, and is in close proximity to old San Juan. The conference rate for the hotel is available for several days before and after the conference, and so we encourage you and your family to enjoy the beauty of the island while enjoying a stimulating and challenging conference.
