2010
NCSPP Midwinter Meeting in Orlando
CCTC
website to view Joint Program: http://www.psychtrainingcouncils.org/
It
will be held on February 10-13, 2010 (Wednesday – Saturday)
in sunny Orlando, Florida. We have a uni
que
opportunity
this year to have two conferences in one, and both will be held at the
Disney Hilton Hotel.
The first conference will be our own NCSPP conference on Wednesday and
Thursday. The theme of our
conference is “Training for Integrated Healthcare,” and
we have several speakers and breakout sessions planned that will help all
of our programs prepare students for working in the healthcare
environment. Psychologists’ involvement in primary care medical settings is increasing
and it appears that there will be a rising demand for psychologists’ services
in this arena in the near future. Therefore, it is timely for us to develop
curricula, practica, and training programs that will meet this need. In
addition to the training part of the conference, we will also have our
committee meetings
and a business meeting is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
For the second conference we will be joining other psychology
training councils for the 2010 combined training council conference,
which has been
organize
d
by the Council of Chairs of Training Councils. We have only met jointly
on one previous occasion (in 2000), so this is a unique opportunity to
meet
with other educators and training directors (including internship directors)
to discuss many of our common concerns in quality doctoral training and
education in professional psychology. The theme of this part of the conference
is “Assuring
Competence in the Next Generation of Psychologists.” It will be
an excellent opportunity to work on issues that are central to the training
missions of all councils. The second conference will take place all-day
Friday
and Saturday morning.
You can register for both conferences by filling out
one registration form available on our website. A preliminary schedule
is available, and
more
information will be coming. Continuing Education credit will be available
for both conferences.
I look forward to seeing you in Orlando.
